Colorless-4656

It was kind of a comedy movie that was unfunny and very frustrating. Somehow, it was trying to be unique, and it actually was. It was a uniquely dumb movie. I liked some of the ideas of what the filmmakers tried to show, but how they showed it was just too ridiculous, which conflicted with the serious tone of the scenes. Overall, the good concept and interesting ideas weren't well-realized. It could have been much more enjoyable to watch and feel less pretentious if it had better color grading and more self-awareness. I'm sorry, but I'm never going to watch it again.

The Fixate & Binge Podcast, w/ Joe Curdy

The feature debut of writer and director Freddy Macdonald's **SEW TORN** -- which premiered at 2024's SXSW -- is a clever, Swiss Alps-set crime thriller told in a narrative triptych style reminiscent of Tom Tykwer's 1998 **RUN LOLA RUN**. When introverted seamstress Barbara Duggen (Eve Connelly) randomly encounters the aftermath of drug deal gone bad on a quiet, country road -- she is suddenly faced with choices that lead to unintended consequences in a wash, rinse, repeat style that give viewers a glimpse of each of her decisions. With a whip-smart premise, sharply-executed editing accompanied by solid cinematography, and great performances throughout from Connolly, John Lynch, Calum Worthy and Caroline Goodall -- **SEW TORN** stands apart as an atypical indie crime thriller for its whimsical, **FARGO**-esque tone, with (forgive me) a running thread that stitches everything back together in a very satisfying conclusion. I, for one, would like to see what writer/director Macdonald does next! Highly recommend -- streaming now on Amazon Prime.
