My thoughts on Dickinson Dickinson is such a well-written show. The way Alena Smith took the story of a young poet (Emily Dickinson) more than 150 years ago and turned it into something so relatable to the current generation was just amazing. It’s interesting how the entire story was set at a horrible time in history where the fight for women’s rights was still a blur and then the civil war was brewing and yet, the story was structured to make us smile and laugh. It was made such that all the passion of Emily Dickinson could be felt. The way her poems were related to the instances of each episode allowed you to almost have a glimpse into the mind of the great poet that is Emily Dickinson which was in some ways sad because she didn’t live a particularly fun life (as she spent most of it in her room), but also very filled with love, happiness, and passion. The show was simply amazing and should be treated with a lot of respect for the writer, directors, cast and everyone who helped put it together. If not for the story itself, then at least for making people laugh in the face of such unsettling situations. This is very good one, a gem.
